My latest and only Orient. Decided to add this Orient to my dress watches collection, since I missing an Orient. (Excuses….)
But this is a very value for money dress watch, while I got it pre-owned, the first owner bought it at only $193 from a shop in Bras Basah.
Very vintage looking design.
Back in April, I was on the fence when a MO was organised for the Halios Puck. I registered interest but withdrew when the funds went to another vintage Caribbean.
When I discovered there’s a DLC version, boy was I tempted, cautious at the same time as I don’t have very good experiences with coated watch cases. After going through a few posts on WUS, I decided to take the plunge and went ahead and contacted the friendly MO organiser if there’s room for me.
Fast forward to October, Â the watch is in my hands, it’s really a long wait for me.
It is a really solid piece. I simply love the black tone, it’s not a solid polished PVD black that I feared most, it’s brushed and kinda dark gun-metal colour.
Now this is an interesting piece, it was very popular for a while and everybody is hunting high and low for it.
I was on the fence, I like dress watches but I didn’t have that feeling for it.. so days goes by, 1 came up for sale, I was like ok, let’s grab it first and decide later.
So viola, the Blue Spark
I can tell why it’s so popular, it has a very classic, clean feel and somehow I feel like I’m wearing a vintage Grand or King Seiko.
When I saw a couple of mesh bracelets on sale in the Seiko Club Singapore forum, I grabbed them immediately without giving much consideration on which watch to match. (Sorry guys if you are eyeing on it, I have a weak spot for mesh.)
Now they are here, damn… I can’t find a suitable 20mm lug watch to match, so anyway, another reason is I want to do something for so long yet I couldn’t find the right bracelet for it.
I have bought a Sinn buckle for quite a while without really fully utilising it, now finally with spare time to boot, this combo came out.
Sinn Mesh Bracelet. The mesh is a straight 22mm, fit the buckle perfectly.
I have to find a watch with a shorter lug to lug distance as I have adjusted the mesh to the shortest possible length. The Caribbean fit the bill !
Photos of my latest arrival, at least 2 of us here got it. Not sure how many pieces out of the 300 made it to Singapore…
