Восток Командирские / Vostok Komandirskie заказ По CCCP

When I saw this listing on eBay, it was listed as “VINTAGE RUSSIAN BOCTOK GENTS DIVERS WATCH”. Little did he know, it’s a Komandirskie with “заказ По CCCP” !

For those who can’t catch my excitement, the Восток Командирские / Vostok Komandirskie is a Commanders watch and “заказ По CCCP” translated to “By the order of Ministry of Defense of USSR”. It was a military issued watch, a civilian version is available, but it will be “Сделано в СССР“/ “Made in CCCP” instead of “заказ По CCCP”

Watch Collecting, Started with Fossil and Vostok-Europe

I wasn’t big on watches previously, I don’t even wore a watch since school !

When my girl bought me this Fossil 52MM, I was practically hooked on big watches.

I was shopping for a mechanical watch as opposed to the usual quartz watches. I wasn’t a big fan of mainstream or popular products, I rather go out of the norm, I’m always choosing obscure products.

Congrats to Dave

Congrats to Dave on completing his Ironman 70.3.

Well it’s 7 hours journey for him, 1.9KM swim, 90KM cycling and finally 21KM of running, a total distance of 112.9KM or 70.3 miles !!

Here are some photos taken from the event.

Ouch ?

Recently, my friend, Dave, participated in Aviva Ironman 70.3 and met with a nasty accident. As you can see on the left, he broke his right clavicle when he crashed his bike trying to avoid water bottles on the road.

Yet he finished his race ! Salute !

As a result, he will need 2 separate surgeries, first to insert that metal piece, second to remove. He will require 4-6 months of rest and will probably miss Ironman next year. His dream for an Ironman.. he got it literally.
